CHDHC - UX Support
As a beginner in UX Design, I was eager to enhance my skills while giving back to society. During Tata ProEngage program, a volunteering initiative by TATA Engage in 2022, I volunteered with an NGO to support their website redesign. My involvement included improving the user experience and scaling the platform for mobile, allowing the organization to reach broader audiences and serve their community more effectively.

TATA Volunteering week
As part of TATA Volunteering week, that happens once every year, all employees are given a chance to give back to society. There are many volunteering activies that available to employees. ProEngage is a part-time, skill-based volunteering programme, which offers an unique opportunity to contribute your domain expertise and helm exciting projects that can help civil society organisations achieve their goals faster. ProEngaging not only helps us grow as a professional, but also as an individual and one can choose which field they would like to volunteer.
CHDHC - Center for Holistic Development of Human Consciousness
The Center for Holistic Development of Human Consciousness (CHDHC) initiative started in 2018 to promote Universal Human values education (Jeevan Vidya).
The primary focus of CHDHC is to offer immersive, transformational experiences to teachers (Higher & School education) and individuals from all walks of life. We initiate participants into the self-exploration process where they recognize the happiness within and understand harmonious living in various dimensions like family, society and nature.

Initial website analysis
On analyzing the initial website that existed, there were few design opportunities to enhance that could bring user's attention.
Show relevant to users
Content was very dis-organized and it felt confusing to users to find content
Navigation challenges
Without a proper navigation, it wasn't easy to get through so many screens
Lacking Information Architecture
Site's IA was not following the design guidelines and users were having difficulty to navigate through the website
Resources availability
With plenty of resources available to users but they are not organized in the right way for users to utilize
Scalability to mobile platform
Website was only available for the desktop and no other platforms
Contact & Support
Other volunteer opportunities and ease of communicating their workshops was lacking
Redesign
I was given 15-weeks to redesign the website and the request to create a mobile friendly website.
Tool used - Wix - no code website
Redesigned the navigation and the hero on the home page bring out the context and what is CHDHC all about right in the first glance of the website


Elevated their programs in a more robust way to clearly explain each program and what benefits them through this. This has received great appreciation and users quickly engaged with this design more.
They had huge amount of media from previous work. Hundreds of photos and videos were not organized. I helped create galleries based on the workshop and the event.


Created a program detail page which was missing in the initial website.

Created a contact us form for any support or queries related to workshops
Key Take Aways
This was a one-time opportunity to give back to society. It was also a great learning that enhanced my skill in UX design, using new tools as Wix. I was also introduced to no-code websites.
Recognition
Was awarded as the "Best Volunteer" by the NGO itself.
